Autumn House II Window Replacement
COMPLETION: 2023
CLIENT: THE CITY OF MIDWEST CITY
In 2023 the Autumn House II original windows had reached end of life and needed to be replaced. The original windows were hard to operate and were casement style windows, swinging into the apartments taking up floor space. The original windows sills were only 12” or so above the floor which caused some concern about tenants accidentally falling out the open window, requiring security bars at each operable window. CHAHTA Architecture raised the windowsills to be above the air conditioning units to mitigate fall risk and eliminate the need for window bars. We also changed the window type from casement windows to single hung windows with integral blinds. This change enabled the windows to be used more often by the residents whether just opening the blinds for additional light or opening the window for the desired amount of fresh air.
